The original spirit and philosophy of Honda’s ever-popular Type-R has always been simple; to provide superb handling and plenty of owner in a useable package. These roots are certainly alive and well in the latest FK8 model.
With 316bhp on tap, the FK8 Type-R is very powerful front-wheel-drive hot hatch. However, courtesy of Honda’s chassis dynamics expertise and trickery, the car is easy to manage even when you put the hammer down.
Our car is a freshly registered Civic Type-R GT, with just 320 miles on the clock. It is under warranty with Honda until 2023. These cars are incredibly difficult to come by currently, with the car out of production. It is finished in Rallye Red, which really lends itself to the car.
The GT model comes as standard with a large rear diffuser and 20 Inch piano black alloy wheels. It also features Type-R sports seats with integrated headrests and red suede style fabric, a Type-R Alcantara sports steering wheel, alloy shift knob, alloy pedals and black roof lining.
Dual climate control, adaptive cruise control, automatic LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic wipers are among the driver convenience features. A 7-inch infotainment screen, a high-power 11 speaker audio system, Garmin sat-nav and a wireless charging system are just some of the cars’ creature comforts.
