The second-generation Jaguar XKR arrived on the market in 2006. Following on from the popular first-generation XK8 and XKR, the second-generation design marked a significant step forward for Jaguar’s sports car offering.
And, over the course of the model’s life, the car received plenty of updates to keep pace with its rivals. In 2009, the car received a facelift as well as a suite of brand-new 5.0-litre engines, replacing the initial 4.2-litre offerings.
A further cosmetic update came in 2011, before the car was ultimately replaced by the F-Type.
Our Jaguar XKR wonderfully displays just how handsome of a car the later XKs are. Painted in Italian Racing Red, it is certainly head turner. And, it’s looks are further enhanced by 20” Takoba alloy wheels, Black Pack, the Speed Pack bodykit, satin window surrounds and black brake calipers.
The car has been spec’d to include a few vital creature comforts such as adaptive front lighting and a rear parking aid. Standard equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen, a heated leather steering wheel, automatic climate control, cruise control, adjustable electric seats, front park aid and much more.
Like all post-2009 XKRs, our 2013 example features a stunning 5.0-litre supercharged V8. With 503bhp on tap, delivered through a six-speed automatic gearbox, the XKR has more than enough power to scratch your performance driving itch. The car will accelerate from 0-60 in just over 4.5 seconds, and it is limited to a top speed of 174mph; that is more than enough for this grand tourer!
And certainly, the car was designed as a grand tourer. It is comfortable without being overly soft, and suitably raucous without losing the refined qualities required for regular use.
